The eastern territories are patrolled by militarized motorist groups attempting to maintain order, while the western wastelands are controlled by ruthless wheeled gangs. Amid the desolation, a cryptic transmission emerges over radio channels, drawing wanderers into the treacherous desert canyons of the Dead Zone.
Choose Your Allegiance
Players must decide their path in this intense vehicular conflict. Support SAIGE and Val Vega in their struggle for a hopeful future, or align with the sinister Dark Jaw and his rebellious Jawlings to pursue total domination. Each faction offers unique gameplay dynamics, ensuring strategic variety and immersive engagement in every battle.
Team-Based Vehicular Combat
Engage in fast-paced, twelve-player online skirmishes or enjoy classic local couch co-op. Auto Age: Standoff supports split-screen gameplay, allowing up to four players to compete or cooperate in private matches while also participating in online encounters. The game’s flexible multiplayer modes cater to both competitive and cooperative play styles, emphasizing teamwork, coordination, and tactical combat.
Customize and Upgrade Your Vehicles
In a high-tech world where survival depends on superior firepower, players can select from a variety of vehicle chassis and outfit them with powerful weapons and advanced gadgets. Options include missile launchers, ramming plates, mines, boosters, and other enhancements. The game features over fourteen vehicles across light, medium, heavy, and tower classes, as well as more than thirty weapons and gadgets for a fully personalized combat experience.
Multiple Combat Modes
Players can test their skills in various game modes, including classic Deathmatch (both free-for-all and team-based) across five expansive wasteland maps. In addition, Point Capture mode challenges teams to secure and defend Eagle’s Nest, emphasizing strategic coordination and communication. Online matches support up to twelve players simultaneously, providing intense and chaotic gameplay opportunities for competitive and cooperative experiences alike.
Retro-Futuristic Audio Experience
The game’s atmosphere combines elements of the 1980s with a futuristic vision of 2080, reflected in both visual and audio design. Players can enjoy a retro-future dashboard soundtrack that mixes synthwave and high-energy guitar tracks, creating an immersive audio backdrop for high-speed vehicular combat. Our Verdict
Auto Age: Standoff may appeal to fans of '80s nostalgia and over-the-top car combat, but it fails to deliver a lasting experience. While the game's concept of team-based vehicular warfare in a post-apocalyptic world is intriguing, the execution feels shallow. The combat can get repetitive quickly, and despite a variety of weapons and vehicles, the gameplay lacks the depth needed to keep players engaged long-term.
Though the retro-futuristic aesthetic and synthwave soundtrack are fun, they aren't enough to elevate the overall experience. The multiplayer modes provide some excitement, but the lack of meaningful progression or innovation leaves Auto Age: Standoff feeling like a missed opportunity. If you're looking for a deep, strategic car combat game, there are better options out there.
