THEXDER NEO (2010)
Description
The interstellar reconnaissance mission ASTROLOG: YEAR 089 has led to a critical discovery. During a standard survey operation, the space-based weapons platform Laevina encountered an asteroid named Nedium, whose origins remain unidentified. This encounter quickly escalated into a dangerous situation as the platform became ensnared in the asteroid’s intense ultramagnetic field. The vessel ultimately crashed atop an unyielding rock fortress, leaving the crew with a singular option for survival: deploying the Hyper Dual Armor prototype known as Thexder.

Our Verdict
THEXDER NEO brings back the classic side-scrolling action with updated graphics and smooth gameplay. The transforming mech mechanic is fun and keeps the battles interesting, while the homing lasers make combat satisfying and strategic. The new online mode and beginner-friendly options make it accessible to both old fans and new players.
However, some levels can feel repetitive, and the story is light, mostly serving as a backdrop for the action. Still, the game delivers a solid, fast-paced shooter experience that honors the original while adding modern touches.
We recommend THEXDER NEO for anyone who enjoys classic shooters, mech action, or fast, challenging gameplay. It’s easy to pick up, hard to put down, and worth your time if you like arcade-style action.
