Game Description
404Sight is a free-to-play 3D game designed to support the principle of net neutrality. It combines elements of parkour and runner gameplay with a unique mechanic called the “ping ability.” This ability allows players to detect paths that can either increase or decrease their movement speed.
In this environment, players must navigate through a variety of obstacles and hazards. Fast and slow lanes are hidden throughout the levels, requiring careful planning and strategy to traverse efficiently. The game challenges the player to complete levels quickly while avoiding interference from internet service providers, who introduce slow zones and other obstacles aimed at slowing the player down.
Gameplay Mechanics
- Ping Ability: Reveals hidden paths that affect player speed.
- Hazard Navigation: Players must avoid slow zones and obstacles placed by opposing forces.
- Speed Optimization: Efficiently traversing the level requires careful observation and planning.
Development Team
The game was developed by Retro Yeti Games, a team composed of graduate students enrolled in the Entertainment Arts and Engineering program at the University of Utah. The team combined technical knowledge and creative design to produce an engaging and meaningful gaming experience that emphasizes the importance of net neutrality.
