Description
Overview
Alpha Version.0 is an action platformer currently under active development. Inspired by classic titles such as Megaman, it presents an alternative vision of what a Megaman-style game could be, with distinct mechanics and gameplay innovations. The final version of the game may differ from the current build, and player feedback, including bug reports, is actively encouraged to improve the experience.
Gameplay Mechanics
Unlike typical fast-paced platformers, Alpha Version.0 does not include a dash function. Instead, the game introduces a crouching mechanic and a time-slowing feature, allowing players to navigate challenging scenarios strategically. Players are equipped with a shield that can be raised while stationary to block minor projectiles, adding an additional layer of defensive strategy.
The game includes six primary weapons, each of which can be upgraded up to four times. All weapons are unlimited in ammo, enabling players to specialize in any weapon without restriction. Weapon upgrades alter appearance and firing sound, providing each weapon with a distinct feel. Armor pieces, including chestplates, boots, and helmets, offer passive or active abilities while modifying character appearance. Some abilities allow access to hidden areas, unlocking secrets and additional stages.
Players may choose between preset characters or create custom characters. Custom characters are purely cosmetic; their appearance does not change with new armor and they do not affect gameplay. Additionally, the game's assets are fully modifiable, enabling players to create custom character parts, redesign stage tilesets, and replace music tracks using a simple drag-and-drop system.
Story and Setting
The narrative is minimalistic, emphasizing gameplay over extensive storytelling. The game is set in a futuristic desert environment. A city protected by a shield against sandstorms sustains both humans and semi-sentient androids. During an unusually strong storm, the shield fails, exposing the city to harsh winds. Amid the chaos, yellow militarized androids arrive on a massive airship, hunting humans while some city androids either shut down, remain sentient, or join the attackers. Communication is disrupted, turning the city into a hostile environment. The demo occurs weeks after these events, assuming the player has cleared all but two stages.

Development Progress
The game is estimated to be approximately 70% complete. Development is conducted by a small team of two active members, dedicating roughly 55 hours per week. Work focuses on refining animations, tuning bosses, fixing bugs, adding stage mechanics, and expanding content. The current demo provides a substantial representation of the game’s direction and mechanics, though some assets may require further refinement.
Co-op and Multiplayer
Alpha Version.0 is designed as a single-player experience. Local co-op was considered but deemed impractical due to limited resources and the complexity of adapting maps and bosses for two players. The focus remains on delivering a polished single-player experience with potential for individual player armories and abilities in future development.
Additional Notes
The game’s soundtrack was created by Finn Mertin Kirkwood. Alpha Version.0 has been under development for approximately four years, with continuous iterations, prototyping, and refinement leading to the current playable version. No early access release is planned, and the developers prioritize delivering a complete and fully functional product over staged releases.
