Description
Rogue Continuum is a cooperative roguelike planet-crawler where players embark on a mission to prevent Earth's destruction. Set in the year 2890 AD, Earth has been annihilated by an unknown alien force. Humanity's survival depends on a specialized strike team of galactic super soldiers who escaped in a prototype spaceship capable of traveling back in time by 28 days. With no knowledge of their attackers' identity, they take a decisive approach: eliminate all potential hostile alien races before they can threaten Earth.
Playable Characters
The game offers four distinct characters, each with unique abilities, weapons, and combat styles:
- A wise-cracking space marine, known for resilience and heavy firepower.
- An ice-cold sniper, excelling at long-range precision and stealth tactics.
- A homicidal robot, specialized in high-speed melee and mechanical efficiency.
- A chainsaw-wielding aristocrat, combining agility with devastating close-range attacks.
Gameplay Modes
Players can experience the game solo or with up to three friends in both online and local co-op multiplayer modes. Team-based play allows for strategic coordination and shared progression, while solo runs offer a more focused challenge. The roguelike nature of the game ensures that each session is unique, with procedurally generated planets, enemies, and loot.
Progression System
Characters earn experience points (XP) to enhance stats and abilities between runs. Players can also find blueprints scattered across the galaxy to unlock and upgrade weapons in the Armory. Each time a character dies, the ship jumps back in time, allowing for repeated attempts with incremental improvements in power, speed, and skill.
Combat and Strategy
Combat in Rogue Continuum emphasizes tactical decision-making and diverse play styles. Each character has exclusive weapons and abilities that require mastery. Players engage hostile alien species across various planets, using a combination of ranged and melee attacks, environmental hazards, and special abilities. Strategic use of time travel allows for learning from past mistakes and refining combat techniques.
Item Shop and Upgrades
A mysterious item merchant provides equipment upgrades and specialized items. Players can earn credits by defeating enemies and exchange them for weapons and enhancements such as freezing bullets or speed-boosting boots. Investing in the merchant unlocks additional items for future runs, enhancing long-term progression. Blueprints collected during missions further expand available weaponry and upgrades, enabling more efficient alien eradication.
