Description
SeaBed is a critically acclaimed visual novel that explores themes of mystery and yuri, offering a deep narrative through the perspectives of three distinct characters: Mizuno Sachiko, Narasaki Hibiki, and Takako. The story intricately delves into their lives as they attempt to separate truth from illusion and understand their own existence. As each character experiences their unique struggles, they find themselves connected by the same goal: to make sense of their memories, relationships, and the world around them.
Mizuno Sachiko, a young designer and the CEO of Clover Design, is haunted by vivid hallucinations of her past lover, Takako. Although Sachiko had moved to Tokyo after graduation to pursue a career, she soon found herself disillusioned with the corporate world. Leaving her job behind, she founded her own design company with Takako, her childhood friend. Despite her success in business, Sachiko feels disconnected from the world around her, her only real interest being reading. However, even that passion has diminished over time, as she can only read sporadically when her busy schedule permits. The memories of her life with Takako continue to haunt her, and she is trapped in a cycle of nostalgia and confusion about their past together.
Takako, the other key figure in the story, is a woman who contrasts Sachiko's personality in almost every way. Takako is endlessly enthusiastic and curious about the world, maintaining an innocent view of life that seems to hold her perpetually in childhood. She first fell in love with Sachiko at the age of five, though she does not consider herself homosexual. She believes that her love for Sachiko simply happened because Sachiko was a woman. However, Takako struggles with developmental amnesia, a condition that severely affects her memory. As a result, she often forgets key moments from her past, including the reasons behind her strained relationship with Sachiko, despite the two being inseparable for much of their lives.
The third central character, Narasaki Hibiki, is a psychiatrist who works at the Narasaki Mental Clinic. Hibiki and Sachiko were classmates during elementary school but lost contact when they enrolled in different middle schools. When Hibiki learns of Sachiko’s disturbing hallucinations, she takes it upon herself to help her childhood friend. Although Hibiki is highly dedicated to her work and research, she is also a coffee enthusiast, often spending long hours at the clinic, consumed by her studies. While not religious, Hibiki strongly believes that everything happens for a reason, and that the universe has a grand order in which all events and occurrences fit. Her approach to understanding human memory and the brain forms the backbone of her relationship with Sachiko, and she works tirelessly to uncover the truth behind Sachiko’s mysterious experiences.
The narrative structure of SeaBed unfolds through the fragmented perspectives of these three women, each exploring their past, their relationships, and their shared search for truth. As the story progresses, players are invited to piece together the hidden truths that bind these characters, unraveling layers of memory, trauma, and love. The hauntingly beautiful art and atmospheric soundtrack complement the psychological depth of the story, drawing players into a world where nothing is quite as it seems. With its thoughtful exploration of memory, perception, and emotional bonds, SeaBed offers a compelling and immersive experience that resonates long after the story concludes.
The Steam version of SeaBed has been updated to support a native 1440x1080 resolution, enhancing the visual experience for players and making the game even more accessible and enjoyable to a wider audience.
